Sustainable shopping in Zugerland

The Zugerland shopping center in the municipality of Steinhausen in the canton of Zug is characterized by 51 specialist stores on a sales area of 22,712 square meters, making it the third largest shopping center in Central Switzerland. In addition to a wide range of products, Zugerland also focuses on sustainability: the shopping center site includes the largest recycling collection point in the canton of Zug with an area of around 350 square meters. Around 4,000 square meters of flowers and grasses grow on the flat roof of the building complex, allowing the roof water to seep away naturally. Another plus point of Zugerland: the investors have been relying on solar energy since 2014. This is generated by a photovoltaic system on the flat roof. In addition, four charging stations for electric cars and eight charging stations for e-bikes are available to visitors free of charge. In addition, a wild bee paradise covering almost 340 square meters was built and opened at the beginning of 2015.
